From the Lazaret, the beach is not a trip to plan: it’s at the end of the estate. Access is direct, via an underground passage, with no road to cross. That’s the great advantage of this holiday: enjoy a beach right away, then choose as the days go by between the coves of the Corniche, the large beaches of the Lido, the dune areas and the long ribbon of sand towards Marseillan.

Lazaret beach: the sea without the journey
direct access, underpass, no road to cross
The first advantage of Le Lazaret is that you don’t have to “go to the beach”. From the estate, you can reach the sand directly, via an underground passage, without crossing the road. It’s quick, easy and very comfortable for families, short stays or impromptu breaks.
- For a short swim: you can go down for an hour, then come back up easily.
- For the children: less travel, less organization, fewer unforeseen events.
- For the rhythm of the stay: beach, lunch, nap or walk are all compatible in the same day.
Lazaret beach is also the first beach off the Corniche. It remains close to the port and the town center, but already gives you the feeling of entering the great Sétois coastline.
Towards Marseillan: over 12 km of beaches
a long ribbon of sand, not a single uniform beach
From the Lazaret, the coastline naturally opens up to the west. After the domaine’s beach, the atmosphere changes along the way: Corniche, Fontaine, Lido, Baleine, 3 Digues, Jalabert, Castellas, Vassal, then Marseillan-Plage.
Initially, the beaches are easy to get to and convenient for simple bathing. The further you go towards the Lido, the more the landscape opens up: the sand stretches out, the dunes take up more space, accesses become more widely spaced and the atmosphere becomes more tranquil.
Towards Marseillan, the coastline offers over 12 km of beaches and seaside paths. Depending on the starting point and itinerary chosen, the walk can even approach 14 km from the Lazaret sector to Marseillan-Plage.

In a nutshell:
- From Le Lazaret, the beach is just a short walk away, with no need to cross any roads.
- To the west, more than 12 km of beaches gradually open up as far as Marseillan.
- The further you go, the more natural the atmosphere becomes: wide open spaces, dunes, Lido, 3 Digues, Jalabert, Castellas.
- The Lido greenway lets you cycle or walk along the beaches, without motorized traffic.
Between 3 Digues and Castellas: Jalabert
For a quieter, more natural beach, take a look at Jalabert, between 3 Digues and Castellas. People tend to come on foot or by bike, for the space, the dunes and the feeling of a less developed coastline.
Note: a mixed zone where naturism is permitted exists between accesses 63 and 64. For a classic family outing, choose the Lazaret beach, La Fontaine, La Baleine, Les 3 Digues or Le Castellas.
A good idea: the Lido greenway
The greenway follows the coastline towards Marseillan. It allows you to change beaches without having to get back in the car, to go for an easy stroll or to choose your access according to the mood of the day.
- By bike: ideal for reaching the beaches further away from the Lido.
- On foot: perfect for a stroll at the end of the day.
- As a family: a simple option for getting around without over-complicating the organization.
Choose according to the mood of the day
immediate beach, large sandy beach, coves or promenade
Sète’s beaches don’t all meet the same needs. From Le Lazaret, the advantage is that you can start with the simplest, then expand the choice according to the day’s mood.

Lazaret Beach
The reflex choice: the sea is there, without a path. Ideal for kick-starting your stay, taking a quick break or keeping your day flexible.

Fountain & Whale
Legible, practical, family-friendly beaches, with more space than at Le Lazaret, but still easy to understand.

3 Dykes, Jalabert, Castellas
The atmosphere becomes more natural and dune-like. Jalabert is well known for its quiet location, easy access on foot or by bike, and its mixed naturist zone.

Lido Greenway
The red thread for cycling or walking along the beaches to Marseillan. Very useful for choosing a beach without taking the car.

To the port :
Criques de la Vigie and La Nau
a different atmosphere, more rocky, more ledge-like
In the other direction, towards the port and city center, the landscape changes. We gradually leave the large sandy beaches for rockier, more mineral areas: La Vigie, La Nau and the small accesses to the Corniche.
- To choose for the walk: the outing is as much about the path as the swim.
- Atmosphere: wilder, rockier, less “big beach”.
- Handle with care with the whole family: depending on the age of the children, the Lazaret beach or the Fontaine are often simpler.
These coves complete the experience: Lazaret for ease, Lido for space, Vigie / La Nau for scenery.
Choosing the right moment
quiet morning, real beach session or evening light
The same beach is experienced differently at different times of the day. It’s this choice that often makes the difference between a sudden exit and a really good time.
The morning
For a calmer sea, soft light and a peaceful start. Very good if you want to keep the day open.
In the afternoon
The right format for a real beach session: swimming, toweling, reading, games, long hours. To be chosen when the beach is the main activity.
The end of the day
Ideal for walking, watching the light fall and enjoying the pressure-free water. This is often the easiest moment to improvise from the Lazaret.
Our logic
- Start at Lazaret beach: immediate access, easy return, no roads to cross.
- Head west when you want space: Corniche, Fontaine, Lido, Baleine, 3 Digues, Jalabert, Castellas, Vassal, all the way to Marseillan-Plage.
- Use the voie verte to change beaches on foot or by bike, without depending on the car.
- Choose Jalabert knowingly: a wilder atmosphere, access on foot or by bike, and a mixed naturist zone between entrances 63 and 64.
- Head east when you want a cove atmosphere, Corniche and a stroll to the port.
- Don’t look for “the best beach”: choose the right format according to the time of day, the weather, the age of the children and the energy of the group.
