For the 78th anniversary of the Grand pardon de la Saint-Pierre, the Sète-Môle fishermen’s association has rolled up its sleeves with an exciting program of festivities. The patron saint of seafarers will be celebrated against all odds, despite increasingly draconian safety standards, as families from Sète go out to sea to pay floral tribute to those who have never returned.We can’t talk about tradition in Sète without mentioning Saint-Pierre, the patron saint of fishermen. Processions, torchlight procession under the protective eye of the statue of Saint-Pierre, jousting tournament…A must-see is the procession of ships at sea, decked out in flags, for the benediction in memory of lost sailors.
