Film-debate: Mothership by Muriel Cravatte
In the middle of the Mediterranean, the crew of the Ocean Viking, the rescue ship chartered by SOS MEDITERRANEE, are rescuing exiled people crammed onto makeshift boats, fleeing Libya. Once rescued and welcomed on board, the survivors receive first aid and are then accompanied to a safe port. On this boat, like a refuge within a refuge, is the Women’s Shelter, a listening and care center reserved exclusively for women and children. To ensure that exiles in distress are rescued, in the name of respect for human rights and maritime law, tug-of-war between authorities and humanitarians takes place every day in the central Mediterranean.
After the screening, a discussion will be led by volunteers from the Hérault-Gard branch of SOS MEDITERRANEE.
Free admission, Mediterranean Room, Domaine du Lazaret
