CINÉ-PAPOTTE: HÉLÈNE, TRANSNATIONAL TREASURE
QUEERS, in partnership with the Ligue des droits de l’homme de Sète, invites you to the screening of the documentary “HELENE TRESORE TRANSNATIONALE”, directed by Judith Abitbol.Screening followed by an exchange with the public, brought to you by the Sète LGBTQIA + association QUEERS, as part of the International Day for Trans People’s Rights.Come one and all to see this documentary that revives “the insurrectionary élans that animated the contestations and cultural ruptures of the 1970s-1990s”!—–A documentary by Judith Abitbols on Hélène Hazéra, Libération’s first transsexual journalist and an activist in the fight against HIV.By speaking directly and intimately to Hélène Hazera, filmmaker Judith Abitbol creates a portrait of an important figure in the counter-cultures of the late 60s and 90s in France. A member of the Gazolines, the F.H.A.R. (Front Homosexuel d’Action Révolutionnaire) and a tireless LGBTQ activist, Hélène Hazera created the Trans and AIDS commission within Act Up, one of her proudest achievements. Her real revenge on a life that began in years when the desire and need to change gender was not at all obvious, was to become the first transgender journalist for a major national daily, Libération, and a producer for Radio France and France TV.
